How to Select a Vein Center

When you have varicose or spider veins, you want to choose a center that best suits your needs.  However, choosing a vein center can be difficult because so many places offer vein treatments these days.  If your primary care physician does not give you a specific recommendation or referral, you may be on your own when choosing a vein center.  Here are some guidelines to help you choose the best vein clinic:

Credentials

Vascular surgeons are all medical doctors, but you can go a step further and look at their training and board certification.  Vascular surgeons are certified by the American Board of Surgery.  Many other types of physicians will perform vein procedures even though they may not be fellowship trained or certified vascular surgeons.

The intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) programs for vein center accreditation was created to evaluate the quality of those providing vein treatment and management in 2013.  As such, it creates a stringent set of protocols and regulations that centers must adhere to in order to maintain certification.  Vanguard Vascular & Vein is proud to announce that we are the only IAC accredited vein center in Dallas.

Location

You may need to visit a vein center more than once, depending on your vein disease and vein treatment.  Find a vein center that is easy for you to get to so making your appointment is not a hassle.

Treatment Options

Modern strategies for getting rid of varicose and spider veins are minimally invasive and much less painful than conventional vein stripping.  Whether it is radiofrequency ablation under local anesthesia or foam-based sclerotherapy, vascular surgeons can provide effective and quick treatment -all within the office. Ask about your options before committing to a particular vein clinic.

Cost

Vein treatments will often be covered by your insurance if it is a medical necessity.  Varicose vein treatment, for example, can be required because of their interference with your daily life if they are severe.  Find out whether you are entitled to medical cost reimbursement for your varicose vein treatment, and select a vein clinic that accepts your insurance plan.  If you do not have insurance, inquire about discounts and payment plans to make your treatment more affordable.

Reviews

Take advantage of the online reviews that are available.  You want to go to a highly rated and reviewed center so your chances of getting good care and having a satisfactory experience are higher.
